New York spot gold dipped $13.10 Wednesday, taking a break at $5,177.20. The TSX Venture Exchange lost 13.38 points to 1,076.16 while the TSX gold index slid 19.20 points to 973.84. SSR Mining Inc. (SSRM) was among those southbound, as it fell 85 cents to $41.17 on 713,000 shares. New Gold Inc. (NGD) tagged along, dropping 64 cents to $15.02 on 3.05 million shares, while Avino Silver & Gold Mines Ltd. (ASM) fell 72 cents to $10.42 on 1.61 million shares.
Keith Neumeyer's First Majestic Silver Corp. (AG) lost $1.36 to $34.91 on 3.19 million shares. The company has assays from drilling last year at its Jerritt Canyon gold mine in Nevada. The 18,300-metre, 57-hole program produced 9.43 grams of gold per tonne across 7.6 metres in one of the holes. There were longer hits with significant grades, including a 24.4-metre intercept that managed 3.43 grams per tonne, while a pair of 18.3-metre hits graded about 2.2 grams per tonne each.
