Egad! New York spot gold slid $182.10 Wednesday, taking an afternoon break at $4,822.90. The TSX Venture Exchange lost 35.04 points to 976.02, while the TSX gold index slumped 54.28 points to 862.71. Americas Gold and Silver Corp. (USA) led the retreat, dropping $1.11 to $8.98 on 3.02 million shares, while Novagold Resources Inc. (NG) fell $1.58 to $11.75 on 1.12 million shares. New Found Gold Corp. (NFG), as busy a recliner as you might find in any retirement home, lowered another 26 cents to $2.66 on 2.35 million shares today.
Mark Cernovitch's Lake Victoria Gold Ltd. (LVG) fell 1.5 cents to 24 cents on 442,000 shares on metallurgical results from its Imwelo gold project in Tanzania. The results showed a gold recovery rate of up to 97 per cent, through bottle roll cyanide leaching tests, and a gravity recoverable gold component of about 45 per cent. About 84 per cent of the gold is directly cyanide-leachable material and downstream recoveries were high, at about 95 per cent, from gravity tails cyanidation.
