New York spot gold reclaimed $90.60 today, taking its afternoon break at $4,563,90. The TSX Venture Exchange jumped 8.66 points to 947.64 while the TSX gold index rose 27.01 points to 843.84. Most Canadian gold miners moved upward today. Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd. (AEM) added $13.24 to $265.81 on 2.77 million shares, while Aris Mining Corp. (ARIS) jumped $1.10 to $24.13 on 1.64 million shares.

Ron Antal's SSR Mining Inc. (SSRM) leapt $2.38 to $36.01 on 1.05 million shares, but it had news nudging it along. The company has upped the sale of its Copler mine in Turkey to Turkey-based Cengiz Holding AS from a binding memorandum of understanding to a definitive share purchase agreement. Three weeks ago, SSR agreed to sell Copler to the Turks for $1.5-billion in cash.

Jody Kuzenko's Torex Gold Resources Inc. (TXG) also did well, adding $1.29 to $58.77 on 923,000 shares, and it also had news. The company has updated its reserve and resource estimates, and while the reserve fell by just over 250,000 ounces to 4.84 million ounces, the resource swelled to about 13 million ounces, a gain of over 3.3 million ounces that is largely the result of an initial calculation for the Los Reyes project.
