New York spot gold fell $45.10 to $4,794.80 on Wednesday. The TSX Venture Exchange added 3.3 points to 1,043 while the TSX gold index fell 30.25 points to 951.97. Most precious metals miners listed in Canada stayed close to home today, but a few were more adventurous. One, Torex Gold Resources Inc. (TXG), helped lead the southbound trek, as it lost $3.59 to $63.51 on 1.25 million shares. Silvercorp Metals Inc. (SVM) was among those northbound early, but it ended the day off nine cents to $16.97 on 1.82 million shares. Americas Gold and Silver Corp. (USA) held its gain closing up eight cents to $8.37 on 2.77 million shares.

George Burns's Eldorado Gold Corp. (ELD) fell $2.33 to $47.70 on 3.15 million shares on word that it has completed its acquisition of all the outstanding shares of Foran Mining Corp. (FOM). Foran's shareholders were to receive one cent and 0.1128 of an Eldorado share for each of their shares. While Mr. Burns, Eldorado's chief executive officer, proclaimed the acquisition closed, the supposedly lifeless body of Foran continues to twitch on the TSX: Today, it fell 22 cents to $5.44 on 16.92 million shares. The spasms from Foran's stock are likely to continue until Eldorado has Foran delisted, which it says will occur as soon as practicable.
