New York spot gold carried on with Wednesday's rally, adding $20.80 today to take an afternoon breather at $4,710.80. The TSX Venture Exchange ended the day down 1.62 points to 994.28 while the TSX gold index dipped 6.05 points to 885.95. Many of Canada's gold miners moved higher today. Alamos Gold Inc. (AGI) jumped 59 cents to $57.88 on 3.49 million shares and Pan American Silver Corp. (PAAS) added $1.79 to $79.07 on 3.05 million shares.
There were larger moves, but they were driven by quarterly reports revealed late yesterday. B2Gold Corp. (BTO) jumped 67 cents to $6.76 on 28.7 million shares and Endeavour Silver Corp. (EDV) gained $2.06 to $87.76 on 1.5 million shares, both on better than anticipated first quarter results. Not everyone had cause to break out the kazoos and party hats today: Artemis Gold Inc. (ARTG) fell 92 cents to $34.30 on 1.17 million shares on "solid first quarter financial and operating results."
