New York spot gold dipped $9.50 to $4,006.70 on Tuesday. The TSX Venture Exchange added 5.81 points to 896.9 while the TSX gold index fell 1.22 points to 763.73. Trekor Metals Ltd. (TKO) gained altitude today, adding 74 cents to $9.78 on 3.5 million shares. (Trekor was known as Taseko Mines Ltd. until yesterday.) OR Royalties Inc. (OR) went the other way, dropping 45 cents to $44.91 on 760,000 shares.
Lon Shaver and Rui Feng's Silvercorp Metals Inc. (SVM) fell $1.12 to $14.36 on 2.21 million shares today, but it had news. The company warns that it will experience a temporary slowdown in operations at its Ying and GC mines in China, as a result of a major accident at a coal mine in the country in May. No, Silvercorp is not mining coal, nor was the accident at one of its mines, but the Chinese government has issued new comprehensive safety requirements applicable to its entire mining industry.
