New York spot gold added $52.40 to $4,129.40 on Wednesday. The TSX Venture Exchange rose 8.28 points to 881.35 while the TSX gold index jumped 22.43 points to 760.48. Oceanagold Corp. (OGC) was among the strong, as it jumped $1.47 to $34.54 on 1.74 million shares. Trekor Metals Ltd. (TKO), on the other hand, trekked southward nearly alone today, dropping 21 cents to $10.67 on 2.73 million shares in silence.
Keith Boyle and Melissa Render's -- and more so Eric Sprott's -- New Found Gold Corp. (NFG) had a good morning, then fluttered lower, ending the day up five cents to $2.07 on 2.72 million shares. The gain followed word of new high-grade intercepts from its Queensway project in north-central Newfoundland. Channel sampling at Lotto yielded up to 23.7 grams of gold per tonne across an 11.62-metre run, while new drilling at Lotto mustered up to 43.5 grams of gold per tonne across a 4.75-metre interval.
