New York spot gold rose $22.10 to $4,076.60 Tuesday, snuggling deeper into the comfort zone it adopted in late spring. The TSX Venture Exchange surged 31.76 points to 898.89 while the TSX gold index added 36.04 points to 771.89. And so, most precious metals miners had a good day. Americas Gold and Silver Corp. (USA) helped lead the northbound drive by adding 84 cents to $6.71 on 4.32 million shares, and Aya Gold & Silver Inc. (AYA) kept it company, jumping $4.64 to $32.18 on 3.85 million shares. Neither had news, and neither did Orvana Minerals Corp. (ORV), but it was a laggard, dropping nine cents to $1.79 on 397,000 shares today.

Keyvan Salehi's STLLR Gold Inc. (STLR) rose four cents to $1.33 on 90,000 shares on word that it has drilled a 9.57-metre true-width interval grading 3.11 grams of gold per tonne. The hit occurred at the Jonpol deposit, on the Garrison property of its Tower project, near Timmins in Northern Ontario. The hit came from one of seven new holes, two others of which warranted an extra dash of bold ink on the highlight reel. A second hole yielded a 10.49-metre true-width interval grading 2.41 grams per tonne, while a third mustered 1.44 grams per tonne across 12 metres.
