New York spot gold lost $50.70 Tuesday, pausing for air at $4,354.70. The TSX Venture Exchange edged lower, dropping 5.76 points to 959.64, while the TSX gold index slipped 12.65 points to 965.28. Hudbay Minerals Inc. (HBM) was strong, as it added $2.03 to $39.97 on 2.8 million shares. So was Capstone Copper Corp. (CS), which jumped $1.15 to $16.20 on 7.64 million shares. Orvana Minerals Corp. (ORV) also did well, adding three cents to $2.71 on 238,000 shares. Allied Gold Corp. (AAUC), on the other hand, dropped $1.04 to $31.60 on 1.06 million shares.

Jon Gilligan's Liberty Gold Corp. (LGD) jumped 10 cents to $1.97 on 6.87 million shares on a feasibility study of its Black Pine oxide gold project in southern Idaho. The study is based on a reserve of 433.3 million tonnes grading 0.29 gram of gold per tonne. At just over four million ounces, the reserve is a healthy subset of the full resource, which hosts 52.16 million tonnes indicated at 0.29 gram per tonne and 148.8 million tonnes inferred at 0.21 gram per tonne, nearly six million ounces in all.
