New York spot gold fell $55.30 by Wednesday afternoon, pausing at $4,104.50. The TSX Venture Exchange slid -- yes, this is getting tiresome -- 30.60 points to 830.33 while the TSX gold index lost 36.38 points to 844.01. Most precious metals miners moved lower again today, several taking today's gloom on the chin. Americas Gold and Silver Corp. (USA) slid 43 cents to $5.31 on 2.49 million shares and Starcore International Mines Ltd. (SAM) fell four cents to 31.5 cents on 414,000 shares. McEwen Inc. (MUX) tagged along, dropping $1.76 to $22.19 on 284,000 shares.

And then there were those with news. Aya Gold & Silver Inc. (AYA) cheered its record third quarter production, 2.03 million equivalent ounces of silver, but the good news did not prevent Aya from falling $1.17 to $36.13 on 1.53 million shares. Naturally, today was a horrible day to have bad news. The gloom came yesterday for Wesdome Gold Mines Ltd. (WDO), which dropped $3.11 on word its third quarter production was "modestly below ... expectations," and today it slumped another $1.57 to $29.83 on 2.59 million shares -- the feline having to wait at least one more day for its bounce.
