The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has reached a $4.26-million settlement with Geoffrey Wall, a Victoria man charged for the pump-and-dumps of Nutranomics Inc. and other stocks. (All figures are in U.S. dollars.) The SEC says that Mr. Wall was part of a group that improperly unloaded millions of shares amidst paid tout sheets, including one advising that a stock was "ready go to up ... the timing is perfect." The scheme generated as much as $77.3-million in profits, according to the SEC.

The deal with Mr. Wall is contained in a consent judgment filed on Monday, April 6, in federal court in Boston. Mr. Wall has agreed to accept a permanent penny stock ban and to an order barring future violations. The $4.26-million he has agreed to pay includes disgorgement of $3.1-million in gains, plus interest. In agreeing to the sanctions, Mr. Wall has not admitted any wrongdoing.

Monday's settlement comes with the SEC still pursuing Mr. Wall's co-accused for the scheme, with those others including Vancouver-area defendant Benjamin Kirk. The case against Mr. Kirk has yet to go to trial, and he recently asked the judge to dismiss the case, citing a lack of evidence. The third defendant is B.C. resident Jay Lee, who has yet to respond to the charges.
