The Globe and Mail reports in its Friday, July 26, edition that Canaccord Genuity analyst Yuri Lynk is keeping his "buy" call on Aecon Group at "buy" and share target at $25. The Globe's Darcy Keith writes in the Eye On Equities column that analysts had mixed reactions to Aecon's latest quarterly results. While earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization and revenues in the second quarter were a little weaker than consensus forecasts, Mr. Lynk says there was still strong underlying performance. The Globe says Mr. Lynk is one of the more bullish analysts on the stock. Mr. Lynk says in a note: "On a trailing twelve-month (TTM) basis, the construction segment EBITDA was $305-million or 8 per cent of revenue; this is a very strong margin for a construction business and record territory for Aecon. Growth likely resumes in 2025. Backlog is set to double in 2025 as five major projects move from the development phase, which derisks delivery, into construction. All told, we see a compelling EBITDA recovery underway that does not appear reflected in Aecon's valuation." He adds, Aecon has been plagued with delays with so-called lump sum turnkey (LSTK) projects, but there has been improvement on that front.
