The Globe and Mail reports in its Thursday, Jan. 23, edition that Barclays analyst Lauren Bonham has lowered her recommendation for BCE to "underweight from "equal weight." The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Ms. Bonham slashed her share target by $11 to $30. Analysts on average target the shares $36.69. Ms. Bonham says in a note, "The Canadian telecom operating environment may continue to see headwinds for a while and stretched balance sheets leave little room for error." The Globe reported on Dec. 4 that TD Cowen analyst Vince Valentini had reaffirmed his "hold" recommendation for BCE. The shares could then be had for $37.79. The Globe reported on Dec. 20 that Canaccord Genuity analyst Aravinda Galappatthige was sticking with his "hold" call on BCE. The shares were then worth $33.28. The Globe reported on Jan. 15 that BofA Securities analyst David Barden had lowered his recommendation for BCE to "underperform" from "neutral." The shares were then going for $32.39.
