The Globe and Mail reports in its Thursday, March 13, edition that Colliers International Group awarded billionaire chief executive officer Jay Hennick a compensation of $51.3-million in 2024 after commissioning a study that concluded he was underpaid compared with CEOs of similar companies (all figures U.S.). The Globe's David Milstead writes that Colliers gave Mr. Hennick a special performance unit award in October valued at $47.92-million, according to a proxy circular filed this week. The awards vest only if Colliers hits various market-capitalization thresholds, at which point the company promises Mr. Hennick cash payments in March, 2029, for the units. Colliers said it has already hit the first threshold, so Mr. Hennick will receive a cash payment in 2029 equal to 107,043 shares times the company's stock price at that time. Right now, that block of stock is worth about $13.1-million. Mr. Hennick was paid $1.73-million in salary in 2024 and received a $1.68-million cash bonus to bring his total pay to $51.34-million, including the value of the share grant. In 2023, he earned $1.52-million, all from salary. His 2024 compensation represents a 3,280-per-cent increase. He owns more than $850-million in Colliers stock.
