The Investment Reporter, in its Jan. 27, 2023, issue, says hold Corus Entertainment Inc., recently $2.06. The Reporter said buy 15 times from Jan. 4, 2008, to Jan. 28, 2022, at prices ranging from $2.78 to $48.53 (the stock split 2 for 1 on Jan. 30, 2008). Assuming an investment of $1,000 for each of the 15 buys, the $15,000 position would now be worth just $3,137. Corus is a Canadian mass media and broadcasting company formed in 1999 as a spinoff from Shaw Communications Inc., which has now sold its remaining spun-off stake. Corus had sharply lower earnings in its fiscal first quarter: For the three months ended Nov. 30, 2022, the company earned 16 cents a diluted share, well below the 36 cents a share that it earned in the same period of 2021. The Reporter notes that uncertain economic conditions have led to lower advertising spending in media. The company expects to see some improvement in the rate of decline of television advertising spending as the economy and industry conditions appear to be stabilizing. Nonetheless Corus has decided to defer the decision on whether to declare its March dividend. It has until March 15 to decide. The Reporter says hold Corus Entertainment for now.
