The Globe and Mail reports in its Wednesday, Oct. 2, edition that the homes of two executives associated with GFL Environmental, including founder and chief executive officer Patrick Dovigi, were shot at within one hour of each other in Toronto. The Globe's Robyn Doolittle and Tim Kiladze write that the shootings occurred late Sunday and early Monday in different areas of the city. Police believe the incidents are connected and that the houses were targeted. The first shooting took place at 11:52 p.m. Sunday in Rosedale at Mr. Dovigi's home. Mr. Dovigi confirmed the shooting, stating that someone ran up to the side door of his house and attempted to enter but could not because the door is metal. After a security guard approached, the individual ran away and fired shots. A bullet hole could be seen on the brick exterior of the property. Police also mentioned that a car was hit in the attack. Mr. Dovigi was not at home during the shooting, as he spends most of his time in New York and Miami. One hour later, at 12:58 a.m. on Monday, a second house was shot at. This home belongs to Ted Manziaris, a long-time business partner of Mr. Dovigi's and a current consultant in the GFL family of companies.
