The Globe and Mail report in its Friday edition that GFL Environmental is evaluating multiple offers to take it private at a price chief executive officer Patrick Dovigi calls "materially higher" than its current market value. The Globe's Jameson Berkow writes that GFL has confirmed it received multiple unsolicited expressions of interest for privatization, weeks after reports of interest from at least two parties. The company, valued at about $20.9-billion, has formed a special committee of independent board members to review the offers. Mr. Dovigi controls about 25 per cent of the company through multiple voting shares, making any buyout offer reliant on his support. During a conference call, he noted that one interested party wanted him to remain a major shareholder instead of cashing out. "As most of you know on this call, I'm not a seller," Mr. Dovigi said. "I'm not a seller at 40 [dollars a share]. I'm not a seller at 50. I'm not a seller at 60 and not a seller at 70 and I'd be rolling 100 per cent of my equity into whatever is sort of being proposed." GFL has spent most of its existence as a private company. It was founded by Mr. Dovigi in 2007, but did not go public in Toronto and New York until March, 2020.
