The Globe and Mail reports in its Friday, Nov. 21, edition that Nvidia chief executive officer Jensen Huang believes there is not an AI bubble, but rather a tipping point. A Reuters dispatch to The Globe reports that Mr. Huang envisions Nvidia's computing technology will eventually enhance everything from coding to robotics. However, an increasing number of market skeptics are worried that the only way from a tipping point is downward. Nvidia reported strong results and forecasts on Wednesday, easing immediate concerns. However, there are longer-term worries that its growth may be hindered by factors beyond its control, despite being valued at over $4.5-trillion (U.S.). In a regulatory filing, Nvidia disclosed the majority of its booming business rests on four unnamed customers. In the third quarter, 61 per cent of its $57-billion (U.S.) in revenue came from those customers, up from a 56-per-cent concentration among four customers in the previous quarter. Past announcements suggest they could include Microsoft, Meta and Oracle. Nvidia's heavy dependence on a few customers and the circular nature of some deals have raised concerns, especially since none have reported significant AI profits yet.
