The Globe and Mail reports in its Friday edition that Frank Stronach's trial on Thursday heard testimony about a "degrading" sexual assault that took place in the early 1980s. A Canadian Press dispatch to The Globe reports that the woman, the fourth to give testimony, testified that she went to the Magna International founder's harbourfront condo when issues about her preparatory meetings with the prosecution emerged. The complainant said she previously told police she could not recall how she moved from the living room window to the bedroom, noting that the Crown referred to this as a possible "omission" in a preparatory meeting. The woman said the Crown claimed she made "inconsistent statements" about her demeanour during the incident, leading to a defense objection and the judge calling for a break. During cross-examination, defence lawyer Leora Shemesh questioned the complainant about her discussions with Crown attorney Jelena Vlacic and whether she received advice on phrasing her evidence. "At no point did she ever tell me how I should put things," the woman said. Ms. Shemesh has indicated she would seek a stay of proceedings over claims that some complainants may have been coached by prosecutors for the trial.
