The Financial Post reports in its Tuesday, May 12, edition that a potential white hydrogen rush in Nova Scotia has attracted the attention of a clean fuel start-up backed by Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, and has swayed a Halifax company to refocus its exploration activities toward the green energy source. A Postmedia dispatch to the Post reports that Mongoose Mining has pivoted from its primary exploration of iron oxide, copper and gold (IOCG) mineral systems to focus on white hydrogen within its Nova Scotia properties, particularly those along the Cobequid-Chedabucto fault in the northern part of the province. Kavenex Energy, a Canadian hydrogen explorer and a partner with the Gates- and Bezos-funded Koloma, has staked roughly 7,000 claims in Nova Scotia searching for the elusive natural gas. "White hydrogen is the new flavour, something that's being looked at around the world," Mongoose chief executive officer Terry Coughlan said. "Several countries, like Australia, France and the U.S., have had new discoveries. "Nova Scotia has the perfect geology for it. I think it's something that we hopefully see developed here over the next several years."
