The Globe and Mail reports in its Friday, April 26, edition that RBC Capital analyst Nelson Ng has reiterated his "sector perform" recommendation for Methanex. The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Mr. Ng gave his share target a $5 boost to $50 (all figures U.S.). Analysts on average target the shares at $55.45. Mr. Ng says in a note: "Methanex reported in-line Q1/24 results, updated 2024 production guidance in line with our forecast, and continues to expect G3 to start up in Q3/24. We remain on the sidelines due to the company's high sensitivity to methanol prices and uncertainty as to whether we are headed for a soft, hard, or no landing for the global economy. We reiterate our 'sector perform' rating but raise our price target to $50 from $45 to reflect our higher North American methanol price forecast." The Globe reported on June 30 that Mr. Ng was sticking with his "sector perform" rating for Methanex when it could be had for $41.37. The Globe reported on Oct. 31 that Scotia Capital analyst Ben Isaacson had upgraded his recommendation for Methanex to "sector outperform" from "sector perform." The shares could then be had for $41.25.
