The Globe and Mail reports in its Friday, April 4, edition that CIBC Capital Markets analyst Hamir Patel is keeping his "outperformer" ranking for Methanex intact. The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Mr. Patel cut his share target back to $55 from $63 (all figures U.S.). Analysts on average target the shares at $58.40. Mr. Patel says in a note, "We believe the market will need to see demonstrated consistent operating performance over the coming year from the company's G3 plant (currently idled) before affording the company a higher multiple." The Globe reported on Dec. 11 and Feb. 4 that Mr. Patel rated Methanex "outperformer." The shares could then be had for $47.09 and $53.61. The Globe reported on March 11 that Scotia Capital analyst Ben Isaacson said his long-term view on Methanex's earnings power remained intact, but that he was "stepping to the sidelines." He downgraded Methanex to "sector perform" from "sector outperform." The shares could then be had for $36.52.
