The Globe and Mail reports in its Friday, May 2, edition that RBC Capital analyst Nelson Ng continues to rate Methanex "sector perform." The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Mr. Ng gave his share target a $5 trim to $50 (all figures U.S.). Analysts on average target the shares at $48. Mr. Ng says in a note: "We believe the shares of Methanex are trading at a discount, pricing in a recession, and offer attractive upside potential to investors who are more constructive on the U.S. trade war and global economy. However, due to the ongoing uncertainties (U.S. tariffs, potential recession, and lower near-term methanol prices), we are reducing our price target." The Globe reported on Dec. 1, 2022, and June 2, 2023, that Mr. Ng rated Methanex "sector perform." It was then worth $39 and $44.10. The Globe reported on April 4, 2025, that CIBC Capital Markets analyst Hamir Patel was keeping his "outperformer" ranking for Methanex intact. The shares were then going for $28.72.
