The Globe and Mail reports in its Wednesday edition that Canaccord analyst Dalton Baretto says second quarter results for base metals dominated was by "uncertainty." The Globe's David Leeder writes that Mr. Baretto also notes there was "a tug-of-war between macro and micro factors at play." For exploration and development exposure Mr. Baretto says he likes Solaris Resources, which he rates "speculative buy." Mr. Baretto targets the shares at $14. Analysts on average target the shares at $19.43. Mr. Baretto says in a note: "In our view, SLS controls one of the best copper projects still in the hands of a junior mining company, with world-class scale and grades coupled with proximity to infrastructure that should drive a capital-efficient build and lower operating costs. We look forward to exploration results, both those that extend the high-grade starter pit to the north-east as well as those that better define the Warintza SW and Patrimonio deposits. We expect 2023 exploration efforts to culminate in a meaningful resource upgrade either late this year or early next year. In the interim, we believe there is a non-trivial probability of a strategic investment in the company by a major miner or smelter this year."
