The Globe and Mail reports in its Tuesday edition that BMO has hired Trevor van Arragon, a career TD executive, to fill a new role as head of Canadian business banking. The Globe's James Bradshaw writes that Mr. Arragon starts June 8 and will report directly to group head of Canadian personal and business banking Mathew Mehrotra. In the newly created role, Mr. Arragon will lead the business banking group at BMO's Canadian headquarters, focusing on products, processes and digital technologies, among other responsibilities. Mr. Arragon has been TD's head of merchant solutions since late 2021 and spent nearly 19 years at the bank, including time toiling in its business banking and small business divisions. BMO also promoted Justin Scully to head of Canadian business banking distribution, starting June 8. He will lead a national group devoted to bringing on new business customers and expanding the reach of BMO's products and services. Mr. Scully has worked at BMO for 18 years and led BMO BrokerEdge, while overseeing the Ontario-Atlantic region in personal banking. He will report to Mike Bonner, who leads distribution for Canadian personal and business banking at BMO. Mr. Mehrotra said the move will speed decision-making.
