The Globe and Mail reports in its Thursday, Aug. 10, edition that Scotia Capital analyst Konark Gupta has reaffirmed his "sector perform" recommendation for TFI International. The Globe's David Leeder writes that Mr. Gupta gave his share target a $2 boost to $182. Analysts on average target the shares at $174.34. Mr. Gupta says in a note: "TFI announced the acquisition of a leading asset-light logistics and transportation business based in Wisconsin, JHT Holdings, which appears to be accretive to both EPS and valuation even before any potential synergies. However, the transaction is not overly surprising to us given management had clearly indicated last week that it was expecting to announce a tuck-in shortly. Our above-guidance and Street-high 2023 EPS estimate was already assuming a tuck-in, which is why our estimates are not moving up significantly on this announcement. We also continue to assume potential benefits of Yellow's collapse in the LTL [less-than-truckload] segment (we estimate at 25 cents to 50 cents EPS in 2H), which as a reminder are not in the guidance nor in some Street estimates." The Globe reported on July 26 that BMO rated TFI "outperform." The shares could then be had for $169.57.
