The Globe and Mail reports in its Thursday, Aug. 24, edition that Credit Suisse analyst Andrew Kuske is keeping his "outperform" call for West Fraser Timber intact. The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Mr. Kuske edged his share target ahead by $2 (U.S.) to $108.50 (U.S.). Analysts on average target the shares at $113.38 (U.S.). The Globe says Mr. Kuske believes West Fraser Timber is poised to benefit from "relatively favourable" prices and margins, which he thinks "potentially speak to an evolving [housing market] industry structure along with changing cost curves." Mr. Kuske says in a note: "We remain constructive on West Fraser's business exposure -- albeit the rerate path is unlikely to be linear and rather rocky at times. Language from the Fed's upcoming Jackson Hole Economic Symposium will be critical for some broader market moves that are inextricably intertwined with West Fraser's exposure. Beyond that event, ongoing wildfire and cost issues may create various near-term headwinds for cash flow generation. ... We believe West Fraser has an enviable position in lumber and OSB markets and commodity prices along with housing dynamics look increasingly supportive."
