The Globe and Mail reports in its Wednesday, July 31, edition that BMO Capital analyst Ketan Mamtora has reaffirmed his "outperform" recommendation for West Fraser Timber. The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Mr. Mamtora's share target soared $13 to $105 (all figures U.S. unless otherwise stated). Analysts on average target the shares at $99.64. Mr. Mamtora says in a note: "Lumber markets remain extremely challenged. Producers are starting to reduce supply. We expect more capacity reductions as lumber prices have been at/below cash costs for four quarters. West Fraser's balance sheet is strong (net cash increased to $6/share) and provides financial flexibility." The Globe reported on April 4 that Raymond James analyst Daryl Swetlishoff had reaffirmed his "strong buy" recommendation for West Fraser. The shares could then be had for $112.05 (Canadian). The Globe reported on April 17 that TD Cowen analyst Sean Steuart called West Fraser one of his top picks. The shares could then be had for $107.44 (Canadian).
