BMO ANNOUNCES CASH DISTRIBUTIONS FOR CERTAIN BMO ETFS AND ETF SERIES OF BMO MUTUAL FUNDS FOR MAY 2024

Bank of Montreal's BMO Asset Management Inc., as manager of the BMO exchange-traded funds, and BMO Investments Inc., as manager of the BMO mutual funds, have declared the May, 2024, cash distributions for unitholders of BMO ETFs and unitholders of ETF series units of the BMO mutual funds that distribute monthly, as set out in an attached table. BMO Asset Management has also declared notional non-cash reinvested distributions for certain BMO ETFs. Unitholders of record of the BMO ETFs and ETF series at the close of business on May 30, 2024, will receive cash distributions on June 4, 2024.

The ex dividend date and the record date for all BMO ETFs and ETF series of BMO mutual funds are both May 30, 2024.

Details of the per-unit cash distribution amounts are provided in an attached table.

Each BMO ETF listed in an attached table made a notional distribution, expressed in the table as a dollar amount per unit, to all unitholders of record on the relevant record date.

A notional distribution occurs when a BMO ETF makes a distribution in the form of units, which are then immediately consolidated with the units issued and outstanding held prior to the distribution so that the total number of units held after the distribution is identical to the number of units held prior to the distribution.

Each of these BMO ETFs was launched in 2023. These tax adjustments occurred because none of these BMO ETFs has qualified as a "mutual fund trust" under the Income Tax Act (Canada) and each has been a "financial institution" as defined under the Income Tax Act (Canada) for at least a portion of its existence. (Generally, a BMO ETF is a financial institution at any time that it does not qualify as a mutual fund trust if more than 50 per cent of its units are held by one or more financial institution(s).)
